Facebook Livestreams Will Now Be Removed After 30 Days
If you go live on Facebook, heads up—your streams won’t be sticking around forever anymore.
Meta just announced that all Facebook Live videos will automatically be deleted after 30 days as part of a storage cleanup. The change kicks in on February 19th, and it’s meant to cut down on costs since, according to Meta, most livestreams stop getting views after the first few weeks anyway.
What This Means for You
Livestreams will no longer be saved indefinitely—once they hit the 30-day mark, they’ll be removed.
You’ll get a heads-up before deletion, and Meta is giving 90 days to download your videos if you want to keep them.
You can convert your livestreams into Reels to keep them on your profile.
Need more time? There’s an option to delay deletion for an additional six months if needed.
Why Meta’s Doing This
Simple: Storage costs money. With Meta pouring $65 billion into AI development this year, they’re cutting corners wherever they can. Since old livestreams don’t get much traction, it doesn’t make sense to keep them forever.
What You Should Do
If you regularly livestream, start downloading past videos before they disappear.
Consider repurposing your livestreams into shorter clips or Reels to keep the content relevant.
Stay on top of notifications so you don’t lose anything important.
At the end of the day, it’s another reminder that nothing on social media lasts forever—so if it’s worth keeping, make sure you save it. 🚀
