Instagram Might Let You Test New Features Before Anyone Else
How cool would it be to try out upcoming Instagram features before they officially roll out? It looks like Instagram might be giving us that option soon.
So, here's the scoop: Instagram is testing a new "Early Access" menu item buried in the app's code. This could mean that users may soon get to sign up to beta test new features before they hit the mainstream.
This new "Early Access to Features" option seems like it would let users get a sneak peek at upcoming projects. And guess what? This could likely become part of Meta's "Meta Verified" subscription package.
In case you missed it, Meta Verified launched last year, letting users buy a blue checkmark for their account for $14.99 per month, which also comes with a bunch of other features. One of these perks is "Exclusive Features," which currently includes unique stickers for paying users. But adding early access to beta features sounds like a natural next step for this program.
Now, you can already sign up to beta test some Instagram features through Meta’s existing beta testing program. So, this new option might just be an expansion of that. But honestly, I think it makes sense as an extra perk to encourage more people to sign up for Meta Verified.
Meta hasn't spilled the beans on how well Meta Verified is doing, but they've recently rolled out verified business packages, suggesting there's some solid interest. And while I'm not a huge fan of paying for verification (it kind of waters down the value of the checkmark), I get why Meta would want to add more features to attract more subscribers.
Instagram hasn't officially commented on this new test yet, but since it's in advanced testing, we might see a big push for Meta Verified soon.
Would this make you consider signing up? For die-hard Instagram fans, early access to new features could be pretty tempting.
