Meta Launches Llama Impact Grants to Boost AI Development

Llama 3.1 incorporates previously unsupported languages (including French, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Thai) and is the only open-source model that rivals the top AI models in general knowledge, steerability, reasoning, math, tool use, and multilingual translation. There's enormous potential, and we’re excited to see what people come up with.”
So here’s how it works: Meta is throwing $2 million into the pot for the best projects, with individual grants going up to $500,000. They’re not stopping there either. Meta will host events all over the globe to provide technical guidance and mentorship to help get those creative juices flowing.
Each event will focus on a theme that matters most to local communities—think agriculture, health tech, cultural preservation, and more. And get this: if you attend one of these events, you could snag an additional award of up to $100,000!
