TikTok’s Working on a Cool New AI Chatbot Called Genie

TikTok is jumping on the AI bandwagon and it’s getting ready to launch its own AI chatbot for us here in the West. They’ve even filed for a trademark in the U.S., calling it “Genie.”

So, what’s the deal with Genie? According to Semafor, Genie is TikTok’s upcoming AI chatbot tool that lets users ask questions right in the app and get instant answers. Pretty neat, huh? It seems like TikTok is gearing up to become a major player in AI, with this chatbot connecting us to various parts of the app.

This isn’t TikTok’s first rodeo with chatbots, by the way. They’ve been testing an AI chatbot called “Tako” in the Philippines since last May. But Tako is more of a guide, helping users find other videos rather than answering tricky questions.

Genie, on the other hand, sounds like it’s going to be a game-changer. It’ll bring together all of TikTok’s AI features into one seamless experience. And we’re not just talking about basic stuff. This includes their advanced generative AI search, which is already a hit on Douyin (TikTok’s Chinese cousin), helping users discover content both in and out of the app.

But wait, there’s more! Genie could also feature TikTok’s “StreamVoice” system that can mimic someone’s voice with just a few words. Plus, TikTok’s diving into AI music creation and text-to-video tools, and all these goodies might just get wrapped up in Genie, making it a powerhouse of AI features.

In a nutshell, while Meta has spread its AI chatbot across its apps, TikTok’s Genie seems like it’ll be more about helping users easily access all these fancy AI tools and features. It’s not just about spitting out text summaries; it’s about making our TikTok experience smoother and more fun.

So, keep an eye out for Genie. It’s going to make TikTok even more awesome!
