Instagram Just Dropped New Edits App Updates Yes, More Transitions (and a Volume Fix We Actually Needed!)

Alright, Instagram is at it again—and honestly, I’m not mad about it.

They just rolled out another update for their Edits app (aka their answer to CapCut), and if you’ve been playing around with video content like I have, this one’s gonna make your life a bit easier.

Here’s the quick rundown of what’s new:

1. More Transitions, Baby!

We now have 35 transition effects to play with. Yep, thirty-five. The newest ones? “Zoom Ripple” and “Vertical Stretch.” These are super easy to drop in between cuts and instantly make your videos look a little more polished, a little more fun, and way more scroll-stopping. Perfect if you’re tired of using the same two effects over and over.

2. Clip Handling Just Got Smoother

Ever tried to make a super precise cut and ended up spending way too much time fighting with the app? Same. But now with improved track handles sensitivity, the app gives you way more control when trimming clips. It's small, but it makes editing less annoying (and faster, thank goodness).

3. One Volume Fix to Rule Them All

No more guessing if your clips are too loud or too quiet. You can now adjust the volume across all clips at once with the new Apply All Volume feature. This is honestly one of those things I didn’t know I needed until it showed up—and now I don’t want to edit without it.

Instagram is clearly putting some serious thought into making the Edits app a legit tool for creators. And while it’s still free right now, heads up—there’s a chance that advanced AI tools might get moved into a paid subscription in the future (they hinted at that already).

But let’s be real: if they keep adding helpful stuff like this every week, I’d probably still pay for it. Especially if it saves me from having to jump between 3 different editing apps just to post a 60-second reel.

Bottom line? If you’re creating content, playing with reels, or even just trying to make your IG stories look a little more profesh—these updates are worth checking out.
